Day Two: From Theory to Practice

8 September 2025

The second day of the training focused on practical tools and methodologies. Participants explored ways to adapt spaces for people with visual impairments, including the use of tactile and visual accessibility elements and audio navigation systems. A separate session was dedicated to techniques for conducting community assessments of public sites: how to organize a building or space walkthrough, how to analyse collected findings, and how to prepare reports.

No less important was learning methods for monitoring the accessibility of public facilities. Participants also received practical examples of solutions for removing barriers in urban environments and public institutions.

The day concluded with reflections and a group photo, which became a pleasant symbol of unity and motivation for further action.

“For me, it was a new experience – to see the city through a different lens. Now I understand how important it is to notice even the small things that make a space either accessible or inaccessible,” said Natalia, a participant of the training.

“I already know how to apply this knowledge in my community. I am planning to conduct an accessibility audit together with my colleagues,” said Andriy, a participant from Lviv region.

This training is only the first step. The next meeting, during which participants will present their completed tasks, will take place in November 2025.
