As part of the project "Multisectoral Humanitarian Aid Inclusive of Disability for Internally Displaced Persons, Returnees, Veterans, and Host Communities in Ukraine," five children from the Mamaiv Territorial Community received modern tablets. These devices are more than just technology — they have become tools for better communication, accessible learning, and personal development.
The initiative is being implemented with the support of the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine (NAPD), which consistently supports children and adults, taking into account their individual needs.
Ms. Anna, mother of Roman, shares: “We are sincerely grateful to the project for the much-needed tablet for my son Roman, as an additional means of communication. It will significantly ease his interaction with peers and also help him grasp the school curriculum through vivid pictures (PECS cards), clear diagrams, and educational videos. Thanks to the tablet, my child will be able to engage with educational materials in a more convenient format.”
The tablet also allows Roman to comfortably experience stories and literary works in audio or video format, which is especially important in combination with the support of a teaching assistant.
For Kseniia, the tablet has become a key tool in developing speech and social skills. “With its help, my daughter studies online with special education teachers, writes messages to her classmates, and learns to express herself in a way that’s comfortable for her,” says the girl’s mother.
Bohdan’s mother recalls with emotion: “It wasn’t just a pleasant surprise — it was a very positive shock. The tablet is a window to new knowledge, interesting videos, and educational resources. We are truly thankful for the ongoing support!”
The project adheres to the principles of inclusivity, focusing on each person's unique needs. The tablets enable children to learn in a comfortable environment, communicate with the outside world, and participate actively in social life.
Families who received the tablets speak warmly of the importance of such support — both in daily life and in the educational process. The provided devices open new opportunities for communication, self-expression, and accessible learning. These examples highlight how crucial it is to consider children's individual needs, ensuring they have the tools for full participation in society.
