Mapping of Reproductive Health Services Conducted in Communities as Part of the “Women’s Health” Project

3 July 2026

As part of the “Women’s Health” project, mapping of reproductive health services was conducted in pilot communities. These include the Kazanka community in Mykolaiv Oblast, the Chernivtsi community in Chernivtsi Oblast, the Brovary community in Kyiv Oblast, the Horokhiv community in Volyn Oblast, the Chutove community in Poltava Oblast, and the Kodyma community in Odesa Oblast.

Mapping is a working tool that helps visualize and describe the services available in a community, including administrative, social, medical, educational, volunteer-based, and other services. Within the project, this tool is used to better understand which reproductive health services are available to women and girls with disabilities, where barriers exist, and what changes are needed to ensure equal access to health care.

Mapping is useful for organizations that are starting to work in a community, as it helps them see which services already exist. It also supports institutions, organizations, and departments working in the community in understanding where people can be referred to receive the support they need.

For the community, mapping is a way to assess how well existing services meet the needs of residents and which resources are already being used. For residents themselves, it is an opportunity to better understand which services are available and where they can be accessed.

The maps, as part of the service mapping process, also include available statistical data in the communities on the number of women, men, and children with disabilities living in the community, as well as the health care facilities involved in the project.

NAPD has also developed booklets listing all reproductive health services available in the communities, as well as the health care facilities where these services can be accessed. The booklets have already been distributed among women living in the pilot communities.

The information collected will serve as a basis for further planning of changes in the communities. In particular, it will help identify needs related to improving the accessibility of health care services, training specialists, adapting spaces, and procuring the necessary equipment.

The “Women’s Health” project aims to strengthen access for women and girls with disabilities to quality, safe, and non-discriminatory reproductive health services.
