Torchyn Public Library becomes more accessible for people with disabilities

April 15, 2024

Thanks to the «Accessible Space” Wings project implemented by the NGO MoloDizhka with the support of the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine, the first barrier was finally overcome, and the Torchyn Public Library became more accessible to people with disabilities.

The ramp to the Torchyn library was built as part of the project «Crisis in Ukraine: Disability-inclusive Response and Recovery Led and Coordinated by People with Disabilities (Phase 2)», which aims to build inclusive communities.

As the work continues, we hope that the library space will become not only accessible, but also as cozy and comfortable as possible for its visitors.

"Crisis in Ukraine: Response and Recovery Taking into Account the Needs of Persons with Disabilities under the Leadership and Coordination of Disability Organizations (Phase 2)" (hereinafter - the Project), implemented by the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine (hereinafter - the NAPDU) with the support of the European Disability Forum (EDF) and the Christian Mission of the Blind (CMB). As part of the project, NGOs working with people with disabilities prepared and defended grant applications for short-term projects. These projects will improve access to social services and humanitarian aid for people with disabilities, which is especially important in the context of war and the complications it has caused.
