In September 2025, residents of the Torchyn community will once again be able to use the social transportation service, which provides free transportation for people with disabilities, parents and guardians of children with disabilities, and older people (over 70 years old).
Social transport is not just about getting from point A to point B. It is about the opportunity to live a full life, take care of your health, stay active and integrated into the community. This is a small step towards creating a truly inclusive society where no one is left behind.
For a disabled or elderly person, even a simple trip to the doctor can be a real challenge. A social taxi removes this barrier and makes medical services really accessible.
Parents and guardians of children with disabilities can take their child to medical examinations, consultations, or rehabilitation. This is not just transportation - it is a reduction of the emotional and physical burden on families who struggle every day for the health of their children.
Older people often refuse to go to the doctor because of the complexity of the route. This leads to complications and even social isolation. A social taxi makes it easier to get to your destination - without additional transfers and waiting at bus stops.
The availability of social transportation shows that the community sees and hears its residents, takes into account different life circumstances - physical, age or economic. This is an indicator that no one is left alone with their difficulties.
The resumption of the social taxi service in the Torchyn community was made possible by the cooperation of the village council with the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine within the framework of the project «Multi-sectoral Humanitarian Assistance with a Disability Perspective for IDPs, Returnees, Veterans and Host Communities in Ukraine», which is being implemented with the financial support of the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO), the Christian Blind Mission (CBM) and the European Disability Forum (EDF).
