The coordinators of the project "Multi-sectoral Humanitarian Assistance for IDPs, Returnees, Veterans and Host Communities in Ukraine" met with the head of Storozhynets City Council, Ihor Mateychuk.
Several key areas of cooperation were discussed during the meeting: support for the advocacy campaign "Communities for All: Creating Change Together with People with Disabilities," involvement of local businesses in creating a barrier-free environment, and identification of facilities that require priority accessibility improvements for people with limited mobility, including local governments, educational and healthcare institutions. Further steps were also identified to create an inclusive space that is convenient and comfortable for all community members.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached to work together to realize the rights of people with disabilities and to join efforts to improve the quality of life of every person in the community, regardless of their age, experience of displacement or health status.
"We are glad that the community leadership supports our ideas and initiatives. It inspires and gives us strength. After all, it is always easier to create change together," said Valentyna Dobrydina, project coordinator at the regional level.
The project "Multi-sectoral Humanitarian Assistance with Disability Consideration for Internally Displaced Persons, Returnees, Veterans and Host Communities in Ukraine" is implemented by the NGO "NAIA" in partnership with the European Disability Forum (EDF) with the support of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany (GFFO) and CBM (Christian Blind Mission).
