П’яте засідання Європейського парламенту людей з інвалідністю

Вчора, 23 травня 2023 року, у Брюсселі відбулося п’яте засідання Європейського парламенту людей з інвалідністю (ЄПЛІ). На засіданні брали участь 700 делегатів, які виступають за захист прав та інтересів людей з інвалідністю в Європі. На 5-му з’їзді ЄПЛІ головною темою було обговорення створення інклюзивного майбутнього для людей з інвалідністю в ЄС.
Серед спікерів були присутні: президентка Європарламенту Роберта Метсола, яка твердо переконана, що права п’ятої частини населення Європи не можуть бути номінальними, адже девіз ЄС звучить так: «Єдність у різноманітті», що підтверджує право кожної людини на участь у політичному житті та розбудові ЄС.
Президент Європейського форуму інвалідності Янніс Вардакастаніс додав, що проведення засідання Європарламенту людей з інвалідністю в будівлі Європарламенту, означає, що ЄС визнає людей з інвалідністю як осіб, які мають право голосу та інші політичні права.
Голова НАІУ Валерій Сушкевич, як один із спікерів, висловив свою подяку урядам країн-членів ЄС, громадським організаціям людей з інвалідністю та Європарламенту за їхню підтримку України у війні з росією, адже через війну, яку росія веде, страждають звичайні громадяни України, серед яких чимало людей з інвалідністю. Також, він наголосив на важливості включення питань інвалідності в процеси відновлення України та залучення організацій людей з інвалідністю на всіх етапах формування політики з цих питань.
Yesterday, May 23, 2023, the fifth meeting of the European Parliament of People with Disabilities took place in Brussels, which was attended by 700 delegates who advocate for the protection of the rights and interests of people with disabilities in Europe. The main topic was the discussion of creating an inclusive future for people with disabilities in the EU.
Speakers included: President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, who is firmly convinced that the rights of a fifth of Europe’s population cannot be nominal, because the motto of the EU is: “Unity in diversity”, which confirms the right of every person to participate in political life and development of the EU.
President of the European Disability Forum Yannis Vardakastanis added that holding the meeting in the building of the European Parliament means that the EU recognizes people with disabilities as persons who have the right to vote and other political rights.
The head of NAIU Valery Sushkevich, as one of the speakers, expressed his gratitude to the governments of the EU member states, public organizations of people with disabilities and the European Parliament for their support of Ukraine in the war with Russia, because ordinary citizens of Ukraine suffer because of the war that Russia is waging, including many people with disabilities. He also emphasized the importance of including disability issues in the recovery process of Ukraine and involving organizations of people with disabilities at all stages of policy formation on these issues.
Today, on July 3, a webinar "The Role and Place of Public Associations of People with Disabilities and Veterans in the Provision of Social Services" was held, organized by the Resource Center of the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine (NAPWD) within the framework of the Rehabilitation in Ukraine (Rehab4U) project. The National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Christian Mission for the Blind (SVM), an international organization that helps people with disabilities. In June, Kyiv hosted the training "Humanitarian Response and Recovery: Strengthening the Leadership of Organizations of Women with Disabilities", organized by the National Assembly of Persons with Disabilities of Ukraine, funded by The United Nations Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) with technical support of UN Women Ukraine. The event brought together activists, representatives of civil society organizations, experts, and women with disabilities from across the country.
