NAIU holds a webinar on protection of persons with disabilities from domestic violence

December 12, 2024 on the ZOOM platform was held Webinar "Protection of persons with disabilities from domestic violence", organized by the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine (NAPD).

This event was held within the framework of the project "Crisis in Ukraine: Disability-inclusive response and recovery led and coordinated by organizations of persons with disabilities (Phase 2)", which is being implemented with the support of the European Disability Forum (EDF) and the Christian Blind Mission (CBM).

The webinar was conducted by Viktor Valchuk, a national expert on preventing and combating gender-based violence. Participants received useful information on the basic principles of protection of persons with disabilities, mechanisms for responding to domestic violence cases and available assistance resources. Special attention was paid to taking into account the needs of persons with disabilities in the context of providing support to victims.

The event was provided with sign language interpretation, which made the webinar accessible to people with hearing impairments.

"Such initiatives are important steps in the fight against domestic violence and raising awareness of the rights of people with disabilities," commented Larysa Bayda"The webinar has become a platform for discussing topical issues and jointly finding effective solutions to create a safe environment for everyone.

The project "Crisis in Ukraine: Response and Recovery with Persons with Disabilities in Mind" aims to support persons with disabilities and their representative organizations in overcoming the challenges of the war and ensuring equal access to services and rights. The NAPD is grateful to its partners and participants for their active participation and support.
