On November 12–13, a monitoring visit took place in the Torchyn and Rozhyshche communities of Volyn region. The visit was conducted by CBM project coordinators Julia Bloeser and Till Kester, together with the Ukrainian team of the international project “Disability-Inclusive Multisectoral Humanitarian Assistance for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), Returnees, Veterans, and Host Communities in Ukraine.”
During the visit, participants discussed the pressing issues and challenges faced daily by people with disabilities, internally displaced persons, the elderly, and other community members.
Meetings were also held with representatives of local authorities to discuss current difficulties and potential ways to address them.
As part of the monitoring visit, the team met with individuals who received assistance through the project. They also visited the district hospitals of Torchyn and Rozhyshche, as well as the Torchyn Public Library — winner of the “Library of the Year 2024” national competition in the “Small Libraries” category, and recipient of the honorary distinction “Inclusive Library” from the Ukrainian Library Association.
The visit was both productive and insightful. The National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine (NAPD) will continue working to improve the living conditions of the project’s target groups in participating communities. This visit highlighted the importance of cooperation at all levels — from international organizations to local communities — in creating a more accessible, safe, and inclusive environment for all, while also improving the quality of healthcare, social protection, and humanitarian services.
