Ivano-Frankivsk residents oppose barriers

February 23, 2026

Residents of the Ivano-Frankivsk community have joined forces to achieve barrier-free access for their residents with limited mobility.

Community activists argue that equal access to urban infrastructure, housing, and public buildings should not be a privilege, but a matter of course. Today, they are researching the barriers that most hinder people who use wheelchairs, as well as residents with visual or hearing impairments, etc. The activists will present their research in the near future at a round table. The results will be sent to local authorities so that they can work with community leaders to develop an action plan to overcome these barriers.

The work is being carried out as part of the advocacy campaign “Humanitarian Response: Everyone Has the Right to Protection,” which is taking place during the implementation of the project “Strengthening the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities during Humanitarian Response and Recovery in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.”

This is reported in a story by the TV and radio company “VEZHA.”
