The year has started with good news for the Opishnya community. Thanks to the project “Multisectoral Humanitarian Assistance for IDPs, Repatriates, Veterans, and Their Host Communities in Ukraine,” seven residents received modern hearing aids, while four children were provided with tablets for inclusive education.
Vital Support for People with Hearing Impairments
For Ms. Svitlana, a resident of the community, receiving a new hearing aid was a life-changing moment. In recent years, she had been able to communicate with her loved ones only in writing. Now, she can once again hear their voices.
Mr. Vasyl, who has had hearing impairments since childhood, also received an essential upgrade to his device. Meanwhile, Mr. Mykola, who relocated to the Opishnya community from the Kharkiv region with his wife, can now communicate more easily with those around him after experiencing a significant decline in hearing. For these individuals, such support is more than just a device—it is a chance to feel like an active part of the community, lead a fulfilling life, and overcome challenges that once seemed insurmountable.
Inclusive Education as a Key to Children’s Development
Another crucial step of the project was the distribution of tablets to children with special educational needs. These devices open up new opportunities for learning and personal development.
Twin brothers Mykhailo and Kostiantyn, both 13 years old, have complex medical conditions that require specialized learning tools.
Nazar (13 years old) and his sister (11 years old) also face health challenges that make accessing education more difficult.
Sofiia (13 years old) is undergoing treatment for a severe illness. She lives alone with her mother, who is doing everything possible to ensure her daughter has access to education and growth opportunities.
For these children, a tablet is not just a device—it is a gateway to quality education, communication, and new possibilities.
The “Multisectoral Humanitarian Assistance for IDPs, Repatriates, Veterans, and Their Host Communities in Ukraine” project aims to improve living conditions and ensure access to humanitarian aid in the areas of food security, livelihoods, protection, and healthcare.
In difficult times, it is especially important to know that there are organizations and initiatives that support people and help them integrate into society. The residents of Opishnya are deeply grateful for this assistance, which improves lives and brings hope for a better future.
