The Board of the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine held a meeting. Under the leadership of Valeriy Sushkevych, Head of the NAPDU, the participants reviewed the implementation of the strategy and decisions of the General Assembly for 2025.
The Board members emphasized that given that the organization's activities are carried out under martial law, it is extremely important to maintain the humanitarian direction of work, support for people with disabilities, strengthening advocacy and educational activities, as well as strengthening the institutional capacity of public organizations of people with disabilities.
The NAIU budget for 2026 was approved. The attendees prioritized ensuring the targeted and efficient use of funds, as well as proper control over their implementation. The Board reviewed the documents of non-governmental organizations and charitable foundations on joining the NAIU and recommended that this issue be submitted to the General Assembly.
As part of the institutional development of the organization, the Regulations on the NAIU Secretariat were approved, which will help to increase management transparency and clear division of powers. A number of internal policies were also adopted, including the Security Clearance Procedure, amendments to the Procurement Policy, and an update to the Gender Policy.
An important step was the establishment of the NAIU Veterans Council, approval of its personal composition and Regulations on its activities. The Veterans Council is expected to become an effective advisory body aimed at supporting and protecting the rights of veterans with disabilities.
The development of international partnerships of the NAIU in 2025 was also noted, in particular, cooperation with the European Disability Forum, Momentum Wheels for Humanity, CBM Christian Blind Mission, International Disability Alliance, Disabled Peoples Organizations Denmark, People in Need and others. The Board confirmed its intention to continue strategic cooperation and ensure the participation of NAIU representatives in international events in 2026.
The Board also decided to start preparing a new NAIU Strategy for a period of five years with the involvement of external experts and consultations with members and partners. The finished document will be considered at a meeting of the General Assembly to be held in the fall of 2026.
The adopted decisions are aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of the Assembly, developing strategic planning and expanding partnerships to protect the rights and legitimate interests of people with disabilities in Ukraine.
