Guidelines for the arrangement of inclusive hospital wards. Functionality, comfort and safety

The National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine (NAPDU) has prepared guidelines for standard solutions for the arrangement of inclusive hospital wards that can be used in the reconstruction, restoration, and construction of new healthcare facilities.

For many years, the NAIU has been working on the issues of accessibility of healthcare facilities for people with disabilities: issues of legislative and regulatory documents, DBN, training of specialists, development of manuals, formation of inclusive policies, etc.

Over the years of practical work, the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine has developed an approach to accessibility issues based on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, international health standards, and current regulations. Accessibility concerns everyone, takes into account human diversity, improves the quality of services, working conditions of staff, ensures the functionality of the facility for patients with various disabilities, comfort and safety, etc.

This year, continuing its longstanding work in this area, the NAIU launched a program to make inclusive hospital wards accessible to all patients, including those with disabilities.

To help administrations, construction professionals, and officials, we have prepared guidelines for standard solutions for the arrangement of hospital wards that can be used in the reconstruction, restoration, and construction of new healthcare facilities.
