Dear readers! We are pleased to present the February issue of the newsletter «The Right to Rehabilitation».
This issue is all about physical therapy for Parkinson's disease. Parkinson's disease is the second most common degenerative brain disorder affecting adults. What is this disease, what are the main signs and symptoms, can this condition be prevented, and how can a physical therapist help?
Also in the issue: what should be done to reduce the impact of the main risk factors among the population that lead to premature death? The findings of the Global Burden of Disease study, according to which cancer is the second most common cause of death after cardiovascular disease in the world. In Ukraine, neoplasms are among the top 5 causes of death among Ukrainians and are the second largest killers of Ukrainians.
Learn about the activities of the All-Ukrainian public organization of cancer patients «Together Against Cancer». The organization was created by former patients of cancer clinics. The women are convinced that no one can imagine the difficulties they face as well as they do, and no one but themselves will invest so much enthusiasm in overcoming them.
The Bulletin is issued as part of the awareness-raising campaign launched by the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine (NAPWD). The campaign focuses on informing the public about the right to rehabilitation, raising awareness about physical therapy, promoting the importance of physical therapy/rehabilitation services for maintaining and restoring quality of life, and creating demand for physical therapy services.
The educational campaign was made possible through the participation of the NAIU in the international project «Strengthening Rehabilitation Services in the Health Care System», implemented by UCP Wheels for Humanity (UCPW) with the support of the Ukrainian Association of Physical Therapy (UAPT), the World Confederation of Physical Therapy (WCPT) and the Republican Medical College of Tajikistan (RMC), with financial support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
