The National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine (NAPWD), together with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), with funding from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, is launching a new project aimed at developing inclusive approaches to health care and social services.
The project will be implemented in Ivankivska community in Kyiv region. It will increase the capacity of health and social care professionals to provide rehabilitation and social services, help ensure equal access to quality support for people with disabilities and create a barrier-free environment.
Victoria Reva, project manager, said:
«This is not the first experience of working with communities in the area of inclusion and rehabilitation for the NAIU. We have already implemented similar initiatives, and we see how important it is to have local authorities and professionals ready for change. Now the Ivankiv community is joining this circle. We are confident that through joint efforts, it will become another example of how to create an environment where people with disabilities feel real support and equal opportunities.».
The project provides for:
conducting practical trainings and seminars for medical professionals and multidisciplinary teams;
organizing trainings and consultations on inclusion and disability issues with the participation of NAIU experts;
online training on current rehabilitation issues;
audit the accessibility of socially significant buildings and provide practical recommendations;
Developing and disseminating information materials on access to rehabilitation and social services, rehabilitation aids, employment, disability registration, etc.
providing recommendations for an adapted vehicle.
This project will be another step towards creating inclusive communities where everyone feels protected and has equal opportunities to access services.
