Support That Helps Continue Treatment

24 July 2026

Twenty-nine-year-old Lidiia lives with her father, Yurii Mykolaiovych, and her 86-year-old grandmother in the Chernivtsi community. Her family supports her every day, helping her access the treatment and care she needs. Lidiia has cerebral palsy (CP) and requires ongoing support.

In recent years, her health condition has become more complex. Due to significant weight gain, Lidiia developed prediabetes, which requires continuous medical supervision, including additional examinations, specialist consultations, treatment, and regular medication.

At present, healthcare professionals are paying particular attention to Lidiia's reproductive health. However, during visits to the gynecologist, the family continues to face a barrier that remains common in many healthcare facilities. Because the clinic does not have an accessible gynecological examination chair, examinations must be carried out on an examination couch, creating significant challenges for both the patient and the physician.

Despite this, Yurii Mykolaiovych speaks with gratitude about the doctor, who does everything possible to ensure that every appointment is as comfortable as possible.

"We are very fortunate to have such a doctor. She treats my daughter with respect, patience, and understanding," he says.

The family's daily life is organised to ensure that Lidiia always has the support she needs. Yurii Mykolaiovych works to provide for the family. While he is at work, Lidiia's grandmother stays with her. In addition, the family has arranged for a caregiver who helps with household chores, prepares meals, and provides daily support to Lidiia.

The targeted cash assistance provided through the Women's Health project will be used to purchase medication and essential clothing for Lidiia.

"Most of our expenses now go toward medication. This support has come at exactly the right time for us," says Yurii Mykolaiovych.
