On 21 May 2025, a webinar titled “Provision of Rehabilitation Assistive Devices: Rights and Guarantees” was held. The event was organised by the Resource Centre of the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine (NAPD) as part of the Rehabilitation in Ukraine (Rehab4U) project. Its main objective was to provide participants with a clear understanding of their rights, opportunities, and the algorithms for obtaining rehabilitation aids.
This topic is especially relevant for Ukraine due to the increasing number of people with disabilities who require rehabilitation aids to restore or compensate for lost functions. According to the Social Protection Fund for Persons with Disabilities, in the first quarter of 2025, 27,000 Ukrainians received more than 90,000 rehabilitation aids. This initiative is one of the key priorities of state policy, and efforts to improve the procedures for obtaining assistive devices are ongoing.
The webinar was attended by more than 100 participants, including people with disabilities, representatives from public organisations of people with disabilities, and initiative groups.
During the session, participants learned about the various types of rehabilitation equipment available in Ukraine, who is eligible to receive them, and where and how to obtain them. Additionally, they learned about the procedure for receiving compensation for self-purchased equipment, as well as the processes for warranty and post-warranty repair services.
Vitalii Muzychenko, General Director of the Social Protection Fund for Persons with Disabilities, was one of the speakers. He addressed some of the most common challenges faced by people with disabilities when accessing rehabilitation aids and provided detailed answers to questions.
Rehabilitation aids are available to people with disabilities, veterans, affected civilians, and anyone in need of assistance to restore lost functions.
