Improving access to services for women and men with disabilities through a gender accessibility audit

June 9, 2021

Today, on June 9, 2021, a seminar is taking place in Zhytomyr as part of the project «Gender Accessibility Audit - a tool for protecting the rights of women with disabilities», implemented by the Zhytomyr regional public organization of people with disabilities «Youth. Woman. Family».

Invited trainers from the National Assembly of People with Disabilities will help leaders and representatives of public organizations of people with disabilities and ASC specialists to structure their knowledge on disability and accessibility issues.

How society thinks about disability, whether there is another way to think about it, and how the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities changes approaches to these issues are the main topics of the event.

Participants will discuss why it is necessary to conduct a gender accessibility audit and learn how to conduct it, as well as get acquainted with the ASC premises and apply the knowledge they have already gained in practice.

The project is supported by the Government of Canada as part of the Women's Voice and Leadership - Ukraine project implemented by the Ukrainian Women's Fund.
