Галині Макарівні 82 роки, все своє життя вона мешкає у селі Малі Будищі Полтавської області разом із сином. Він і допомагає жінці з побутовими справами.

Сорок чотири роки тому Галина — або Ганна, як вона  ще себе називає — працювала на буровій старшим кухарем. Потім її комісували.

На подвір’ї для Галини Макарівни завжди стоїть крісло. За допомогою сина жінка трохи ходить. Зізнається: намагається пересувати й самостійно, коли поруч нікого немає.

«Можу один-два кроки зробити, та потім падаю, не можу встояти на власних ногах», — каже жінка. Полегшити будні Галини Макарівни могло би крісло колісне. Та є одне «але» — без сторонньої допомоги пенсіонерка не матиме змоги скористатися ним.

«Мене тренували користуватися кріслом колісним у лікарні в Зінькові. Та я зрозуміла, що не можу сама ні залізти в нього, ні вилізти. Та й ви бачили, які пороги високі в хаті між кімнатами?», — пояснює Галина Макарівна.

З такою проблемою зіштовхуються сотні людей з інвалідністю. Згідно із законодавством для маломобільних груп держава має створити відповідні умови, наприклад, заасфальтувати двір, ліквідувати пороги на вході в будинок та кімнати. Так повинно бути, однак реальність зовсім інша.

В межах проєкту «Мультисекторальна гуманітарна допомога з урахуванням інвалідності для внутрішньопереміщених осіб (ВПО), репатріантів, ветеранів та приймаючих громад в Україні» Національна асамблея людей з інвалідністю України шукатиме можливості допомогти кожному і кожній, хто потребує допомоги, зокрема і Галині Макарівні. Разом з міжнародними партнерами ми зробимо все, аби громади стали інклюзивними та доступними.

Halyna Makarivna is 82 years old, and she has lived all her life in the village of Mali Budyshchi, Poltava region, together with her son. He helps the woman with household chores.

Forty-four years ago, Halyna — or Hanna, as she still calls herself — worked as a senior cook at a drilling rig. Then she was dismissed.

There is always a chair in the yard for Halyna Makarivna. With the help of her son, the woman can walk a little. She admits: she tries to move on her own when no one is around.

“I can take one or two steps, but then I fall, as I can’t stand on my own feet,” says the woman. A wheelchair could make Halyna Makarivna’s everyday life easier. However, there is one “but” – without outside help, the elderly woman will not be able to use it.

“I was trained to use a wheelchair at the hospital in Zinkiv town, but then I realized that I could neither climb into it nor get out by myself. Have you seen how high the thresholds are between the rooms in the house?” explains Halyna Makarivna.

Hundreds of people with disabilities face such a problem. According to the legislation, the state must create appropriate conditions for groups of people with limited mobility; for example, pave the yard andeliminate thresholds at the entrance to the house and rooms. This is how it should be done, but the reality is completely different.

Within the project “Multisectoral Inclusive Humanitarian Aid for IDPs, Returnees, Veterans, and Host Communities in Ukraine,” the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine will be seeking opportunities to help everyone who needs help, including Halyna Makarivna. Together with international partners, we will do everything possible to make communities inclusive and accessible.
