Targeted support in times of humanitarian crisis

23 October 2025

In the context of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, targeted assistance is not just support, but a real tool for survival for families who find themselves in difficult circumstances. Even small amounts of support allow people to allocate resources according to their own needs — to buy medicine, pay for treatment, improve living conditions, or provide care. Such assistance not only makes everyday life easier, but also gives a sense of control over the situation and preserves dignity in difficult times.

Andriy Vitaliyovych from Torchyn suffered a stroke in 2023, after which he experienced serious complications and became immobile. Thanks to the support of the National Assembly of People with Disabilities, it was possible to purchase a wheelchair and an anti-bedsore cushion for Andriy Vitaliyovych — the most necessary items that significantly facilitated care and improved the living conditions of the man and his family.

Andriy Vitaliyovych has a grandson, Maksymko, who is growing up. Thanks to the project "Multisectoral humanitarian assistance with regard to disability for internally displaced persons, returnees, veterans, and host communities in Ukraine," implemented by the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine in partnership with the European Disability Forum (EDF) with the support of the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO) and CBM (Christian Blind Mission), financial assistance was provided to purchase the necessary medicines for the boy and for him to undergo a course of rehabilitation.

The project provides assistance not only to people with disabilities, but also to internally displaced persons, veterans, and repatriates. Thanks to comprehensive support—financial, medical, social, and technical—each family can receive the resources that best meet their needs and thus experience real help and relief in their daily lives.
