New Reason for Disability Recognition: Deprivation of Personal Freedom Due to Armed Aggression Against Ukraine

March 26, 2025

In response to the ongoing war, a new criterion for establishing disability has been introduced. The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has recognized the deprivation of personal freedom as a valid cause for disability status. This decision is a crucial step in acknowledging the physical and psychological harm faced by individuals who have been captured, detained, or subjected to other forms of violence during the ongoing conflict.

This addition to the disability determination criteria ensures that people who have been deprived of their liberty due to the aggression will have their condition assessed and recognized, ensuring they receive the necessary support and care.
