Module 5. Presentation 5.3. Vocational Readiness for Employment: Supporting the Transition from Learning to Work

The presentation is dedicated to one of the key stages of vocational education - the transition of a student from training to the real workplace. Its goal is to help vocational education staff model a continuous individual route from training to work, foresee the necessary support after employment and avoid the situation "there is a diploma - there is no job."

The material helps to assess the applicant's professional readiness to enter the labor market, determine acceptable working conditions and possible workplace adaptations. Special attention is paid to the role of the vocational education institution: assistance in preparing a resume, portfolio and recommendations, using the results of work practice, communicating with employers and supporting the transition to employment.

Practical tasks invite participants to simulate the interaction between the applicant, the educational institution and the employer, to identify the necessary adaptations at the interview stage, directly at the workplace and during the adaptation period. The material also draws attention to the risks of the first job - mismatch of expectations, overload, conflicts, and for veterans - possible re-traumatization.

Thus, employment is viewed not as a formal completion of training, but as a continuation of an individual professional path, where support, interaction with the employer, and appropriate conditions for a person's successful adaptation to the workplace remain important.

The presentation can be used during training sessions, in-house professional learning, and team-based work by VET provider staff as part of Module 5 of the Trainer’s Guide.
