Module 4. Handouts 4.2–4.3. Case Studies

The handout contains six learning cases that reflect different situations that vocational education institutions may encounter during admission, training, and organizing support for applicants with different educational needs.

The cases present different educational paths and life circumstances: transition from an inclusive or special education institution to a special education institution, education without a formally defined status, retraining of an adult with a disability, as well as the return of veterans to education and professional life. Each situation shows not only the difficulties and possible barriers, but also the strengths, resources and potential of the person.

The material helps training participants analyze how the educational environment, methods of presenting information, pace of learning, communication, workplace accessibility, documents and organizational procedures can affect a person's participation in vocational training. The cases can be used for group work, discussing practical solutions and identifying adaptations that the institution can implement to ensure equal access to vocational training.

The handout is intended for work within topics 4.2–4.3 of Module 4 of the Trainer’s Guide.
