April 23, 2024

Since April 2014, with the support of the USAID GOVERLA Project, the NAIA has begun implementing a new of the Inclusive Rehabilitation Services project«. The project will be implemented in 12 territorial communities in Zakarpattia, Lviv, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Odesa, and Volyn regions.

Today, with the participation of our partners, including representatives of local governments, medical institutions, and organizations of people with disabilities in the pilot communities, we held a webinar on Inclusive Accessibility - Interaction between Government and Society.

Project Manager Svitlana Petrusha presented the project goals, main activities, and ways to achieve the objectives, noting: «The aim of the project is to strengthen inclusiveness in the healthcare sector and focus its activities on mobilizing local organizations of people with disabilities, local governments, and healthcare providers.».

During the webinar, Pavlo Zhdan, a research services expert, presented the «Questionnaire for Assessing the Role and Functions of Local Governments in Implementing Inclusive Medical and Rehabilitation Services», which will help to study the current state of affairs regarding access to medical (rehabilitation) services and other disability-related issues for the most vulnerable groups in the selected communities.

Olha Burova, research consultant, spoke about the methodology and approach chosen to conduct the survey in order to provide a comprehensive assessment of community healthcare needs, identify current problems and gaps.

Yuriy Vasylchenko, the NAIU's Manager of Barrier-Free and Accessibility Audits, together with Dmytro Popov, an expert in digital accessibility audits, outlined the key aspects of the Audit of Accessibility of Rehabilitation Services in Medical Facilities and Digital Accessibility of Local Government Websites.

The project has been launched. NAIU is open to cooperation and interaction. We are sincerely grateful to our partners. We are confident in fruitful cooperation, because we all have a common goal - quality inclusive rehabilitation services in communities and interaction between the government and the public!
