A training camp entitled “Capacity Building for Organizations of Persons with Disabilities: Advocacy — Theoretical and Practical Aspects” was started in Lviv region.
Leaders and activists from disability organizations – members of the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine (NAPD) – joined the camp from Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv regions.
Our focus is to strengthen the capacities of these organizations in advocacy and in participation in decision-making processes.
The first day included participant introductions, a brief overview of the camp format, and an orientation to the centre’s facilities. Then the intensive work began discussions on modern disability approaches, rights stipulated by the UN Convention, advocacy tools, and practical action planning for communities.
The camp is implemented within the project “Together We Are Powerful: Capacity Building of Public Organizations of People with Disabilities” is implemented by NAPD in partnership with the humanitarian organization “People in Need” and with financial support from the people of the Czech Republic.
Ahead is intensive work, hands-on practice, teamwork, and experience sharing between organizations.
