This plan should aim to provide medical, psychological and socio-economic assistance to people affected by explosive ordnance, and should ensure their long-term support and reintegration into society.
To prepare the plan, an Intersectoral Working Group was set up to bring together representatives of government agencies, international organizations and civil society to develop a comprehensive support plan.
On October 30, 2024, Pavlo Zhdan, a representative of the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine (NAPWD), took part in a meeting of the said Intersectoral Working Group.
At the first meeting of the group, the participants discussed strategies to strengthen medical and rehabilitation services and expand socio-economic opportunities for victims.
The NAKI believes that, first of all, great attention should be paid to unifying the terminology related to explosive devices in the legislation and social guarantees provided to the affected population. In addition, it is imperative to create a register of victims of all explosive objects (including UAVs and ballistic missiles), not only of mines and explosives defined in the IMAS 13.10.
The development of the National Action Plan for Assistance to Victims of Explosive Ordnance is part of the UNDP Mine Action in Ukraine project, with financial support from the governments of Sweden and France.
