Strengthening the NAIU network organizations: launch of the project with the support of DPOD

February 26, 2026

In December 2025, the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine (NAPWD), with the support of the Danish Organization for People with Disabilities (DPOD), launched the project «Strengthening the Capacity of NAPWD and its member and partner organizations.» This is not the first joint project of Danish and Ukrainian umbrella organizations.
The project aims to make the organizations of the NAPD network work more stably, have clearer tools for their daily work and be able to have a stronger impact on decisions related to the rights of people with disabilities. We are strengthening teamwork, internal rules, interaction between organizations and practical tools.

What we will do

  • We will assess the needs and capacities of organizations and provide advice on updating their strategy and internal documents.
  • We will support the leaders and activists of the network - psychological support and emotional relief for the leaders are provided.
  • We will conduct training on advocacy: how to defend rights, interact with the authorities, and achieve change in communities.
  • We will provide mini-grants to NAPD member organizations to enable them to implement advocacy campaigns to increase the participation of persons with disabilities in decision-making (conditions and stages of selection will be published separately).
  • We will update key NAIU documents: the rules of public communication and advocacy, as well as HR documents (job descriptions, rules of remote work).
  • We will develop the NAIU Strategy for 2026-2030 (including the study of international experience);
  • We will improve communication in the network: we will update contacts, support an interactive map of organizations and a single channel of interaction.
  • We will support digital tools and transparency: updating and technical support of the DopomogaInfo portal, preparation of the annual report, strategic meetings and tax consultations.

Where do we start
At the start, we form an action plan and working groups, launch the preparation of self-assessment of organizations, and prepare rules for mini-grants to make all processes transparent and understandable. Particular attention is paid to the development of the NAIA Strategy for 2026-2030.

Viktoriia Nazarenko, Secretary General of the NAIU:
«We want the network's organizations to have more resources and clearer tools for their daily work. This will help us to better protect the rights of people with disabilities and achieve solutions that actually work in communities.».

A strong network starts with strong organizations and transparent rules of operation.
