"Voice of Darkness: Support for Blind Veterans" - the project is gaining momentum!

The All-Ukrainian League of Organizations of Persons with Visual Impairments "Modern View", which is part of the NAPD, has officially launched a new important project called "Voice of Darkness: Support for Blind Veterans". This initiative, made possible by the support of the International Renaissance Foundation as part of the Keeping the Line competition, will last for five months - from June 1 to October 31.

The aim of the project is to create effective support mechanisms for veterans who have lost their eyesight as a result of combat. We strive not only to assess their real needs, but also to facilitate their social integration and improve the skills of professionals working with this category of people.

Among the key expected results of the project:

• Comprehensive needs assessment: We will conduct a detailed survey among blind veterans and their families to collect unique structured data. This will allow us to develop more effective support and advocacy programs.
• Professional development of specialists: Thanks to specialized trainings, 40 specialists from the social sector and veterans' hubs will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to work with visually impaired veterans.
• Psychosocial support for families: We will launch an online space for wives and mothers of veterans to receive psychological, social and legal support, as well as share their experiences.
• Information and advocacy campaigns: We will develop and disseminate a practical "Handbook" for representatives of veterans' hubs. We will also hold a series of advocacy events to draw the attention of the public and authorities to the problems of blind veterans.

This project is an extremely important step towards creating a decent and inclusive environment for our defenders. We believe that by working together we will be able to provide blind veterans with a full life and integration into society.
