Support for Families: More Than Just Financial Aid, but Understanding Their Challenges

March 26, 2025

As part of the project "Multisectoral Humanitarian Assistance with Disability Consideration for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), Returnees, Veterans, and Host Communities in Ukraine," financially supported by the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO), CBM, and EDF, two families from the Mamaivka territorial community, raising children with disabilities, received cardiological aid kits.

The parents of Roman, a local resident, received assistive technologies and financial assistance for their son. “We used this support to purchase medical treatments for our child. This aid is essential for us, as the cost of treatment is continuous and burdensome. We were aware that the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine (NAIU) supports residents of our community, but we were pleasantly surprised by the scale of the assistance. Not only did we receive help, but also over 50 families raising children with disabilities, people with first-degree disabilities, IDPs, and families facing difficult life circumstances. For such families, this is not just financial support, but also a sign of care and understanding from society.”

When a family receives the necessary support, it allows them to focus not only on their struggles but also on planning for the future. Feeling the care and understanding of society boosts confidence and motivation to keep going. This is especially important for parents raising children with disabilities, as every act of attention and assistance is not just relief from daily challenges but a reassurance that they are not alone in facing their difficulties.
