Ms. Olha from the Poltava region lives with a disability due to a severe joint condition. It is extremely difficult for her to travel long distances. Yet despite this, she maintains an active lifestyle and strives to contribute to her community.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Olha decided to support the defenders in the best way she could — by baking homemade pies for the soldiers. Every time volunteers or acquaintances from her village have the opportunity to deliver the baked goods to the front line, she gets to work — firmly believing that the warmth of home-cooked care is just as vital as armor.
Through the project "Multisectoral Humanitarian Aid Inclusive of Disability for Internally Displaced Persons, Returnees, Veterans, and Host Communities in Ukraine," Ms. Olha received a tricycle.
Thanks to this assistive device, Olha has become more mobile, independent, and able to participate more actively in the life of her village. She says this vehicle gives her a sense of freedom and allows her to do much more than before.
Assistive technologies are not just technical devices. They are life-changing tools that open doors to active societal participation, support the dignity, and enhance the independence of people with disabilities.
Even a small piece of technical aid can be a significant step toward independence and self-realization.
