Module 5. Handouts 5.1–5.3. Case Studies

The handout contains six practical cases that help to consider different situations of organizing accessible training, work practice and the transition from vocational education to employment. The heroes of the cases have different ages, life and educational experiences, needs and resources - from school graduates to adults retraining or returning to professional life after war.

The cases of Iryna, Andriy, Maksym, Olena, Serhiy, and Nazar allow us to analyze how the peculiarities of human functioning interact with the conditions of education and the future workplace. The materials draw attention not only to possible difficulties and barriers, but also to the strengths, professional experience, motivation, and resources of each person.

While working with cases, participants can identify necessary pedagogical and organizational adaptations, solutions for workplace accessibility, safe internships, and subsequent employment. This format helps move from general principles of inclusion to specific solutions that a vocational education institution can apply in its daily work.

The handouts are intended for practical and group work within topics 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3 of Module 5 of the Trainer's Guide.

The project “Inclusive Vocational Education and Training: Improving Training for Veterans and People with Disabilities” is implemented by the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine (NAPD) in cooperation with Christoffel-Blindenmission Christian Blind Mission e.V. (CBM) with financial support from the European Union, Germany, Poland, Estonia, and Denmark, as part of the Skills4Recovery Multi-Donor Initiative, implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Solidarity Fund PL (SFPL).
